What You Need For A Safe Worksite30th July 2018

Protecting yourself and your workforce should be the first thing you get to when beginning a job. Make sure that you’ve made plans and have got the right things onsite:

Hard Hats & Hi-Vis

A Rubble Chute

A good quality rubble chute can help avoid a multitude of health and safety issues. There’s no collecting of dusty rubble in the work location, no requirement to move heavy bags down stairs or scaffolding, and a simple way to prevent any cut corners that could lead to a serious accident. Make sure you know the size you need, as well as extras such as entry sections that will suit the way you’re working.

There’s no one rule that will keep everybody safe. This is where getting to know the site and the job comes in, so you can know the accommodations that need to be made. If you are tiling on the ground, invest in kneepads to keep your tradespeople safe. If it’s an old house, consider the presence of lead paint or asbestos and make sure there are masks or respirators available. Cover every possibility and plan for every risk.

Training!

No matter how small the job is, the most important thing to have on any worksite is the training that enables you to work in a way that doesn’t put yourself or your team in danger. This means knowing what you’re doing, how you’re doing it and the potential risks that you are working with so that you are equipped with the tools to prevent accidents.
